Last nights Jam in the Ceol Mor

Mon 09 Aug 2010 14:17:39 | 10 comments
Was a good jam session at the Ceol Mor last night and it was a lot busier than the first one, which is surprising considering it was belladrum festival weekend..

musicians who played were,

Josh Mackensie, who was on bass most of the night . some shit hot funky jams on guitar and a few numbers on drums.
Garry Monro(ex Federals and voyeurs) who stirred up some nice grooves on drums
Chris Maffia newcomer to this site and a great guitar player
Maria Hall along with her guitarist Hamish, who played quite a few of her own songs and will be playing a gig at Ceol mor in a few weeks
Stevie Smith who delivered his usual amazing harp playing.

Other folk included Ross McEwan  on guitar,Daniel ? a great drummer who's style  reminded me of Keith Moon a lot .and a guy called Simon? who played a lot of good Hendrix covers .
Hope I haven't forgotten anybody
Oh yeah and myself or course :)

There still weren't enough punters though, so lets hope that we can drum up a few more for the next jam on the 15th Aug, to make it worthwhile continuing.

Please Spread the word.

How can you forget Graham Mackenzie the Birthday boy!!! Shame on you Dave...:P
DOH !
Yeah Sorry Graham 32 ! Its all downhill now m8
Yep was just about to say Graham! lol
Btw, I brought 3 punters with me... unfortunately they dragged me away or I would've stayed on the whole night, as would've Hamish! So a bit of a mixed blessing! ; -$
Well done Maria ,I hope we get a busy night next Sunday
A great nite. What suprised me was, the amount of great musical talent that was present. Also, the amount of younger people (that's anyone younger than me I suppose) who are well versed in the older music styles, but I suppose some of those styles will never have an age (Hendrix/Clapton etc)
Hope to see the same people and some new ones on the 15th August. Should be a Hoot (to pardon the pun)

KEEP MUSIC LIVE!
I'll plug each Sunday as best I can. : )
I just want to second everything thats already been said and say how much i enjoyed the wide variety of styles and the sheer weight of talent on show. Have stuck a couple of posters up at work to try and stir up a bit of stoor and get some fresh bodies along. Hope to see everyone there on the 15th August.
ps Cliff- im with you mate "long live the oldies" Gaz
Good to see such positivity emerging.I'm sure that if this was regular it would pick up enough for the venue to make some coin before too long.
Yeah man - it only takes one spark to light a fire!
Got a mate from Poland coming along and hopefully the lovely "Emily" from the emerald isle too (though shes on call so may not be able to come). Also two of the guys that were at the Ardersier gig said they would try and come too (Stuart and Stevie) One thing that struck me while standing outside smoking was i spoke to three different groups of tourists who all seemed interested in coming in but didn't because they had kids with them. I dont know what the limitations of their license are, but if they do allow kids in with adults it may be a good idea to advertise that fact externally (perhaps in a couple of languages). Every little helps bud!
Gaz
See you all Sunday, should be another great evening. I'll be out of reach until then, call 07903 045147 should anyone want to contact me. Cheers
